2017 AAAS Call for Book Awards Nomination
Deadline: July 31, 2016
The Association for Asian American Studies invites nominations for books of outstanding achievement in the following categories:
- Social Science
- Creative Writing: Poetry
- Creative Writing: Prose
- Humanities and Cultural Studies (with 3 subcategories – authors may select up to two)
- Literary Studies
- Media, Performance, and Visual Studies
- Multidisciplinary Approaches
Eligibility for 2017 Book Awards: BOOKS PUBLISHED IN 2015 (copyright 2015). Please note that edited collections are not eligible for consideration. Authors of nominated titles should be current members of AAAS (not required for Creative Writing categories).
The Award recipients receive acknowledgement from the Association for Asian American Studies Board and general membership. The Book Awards will be presented at our annual conference, April 13-15, 2017, in Portland, Oregon. Recipients will be presented with an etched plaque commemorating the authors and their work. Award winners will also be announced in the conference program, through the AAAS listserv, and on the AAAS website.
1. Complete the AAAS 2017 Book Award Nomination Submission Form below.
The category for which a work is to be nominated should be specified by the author. It is solely the author’s responsibility to ensure that the book is submitted for the proper category and year.
2. Ship five (5) copies of the nominated title to the address below. Please note that books without a specified category will not be prioritized for review.

Your completed submission must be completed online and copies of the work must be post-marked no later than July 31, 2016, in order to be considered for the 2017 AAAS Book Award at the 2017 AAAS conference.
Decisions from the Book Award Subcommittees will be made by January 1st, 2017, and are final. Award recipients and publishers will be notified by February 1st, 2017. Each Subcommittee is selected by the Board of the Association for Asian American Studies and is composed of three members who are specialists in the designated fields.
