The Association for Asian American Studies (AAAS) Excellence in Mentorship Award recognizes an AAAS member who has demonstrated outstanding mentorship of undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and/or colleagues.
The awardee will receive $300 from the AURA-AAAS Endowment Fund. This gift honors the legacy of the Asians United to Raise Awareness (AURA) Fund and its founding mission: striving for positive social change by funding and developing programs that raise political and cultural awareness about and among the AAPI community.
To submit a nomination, please complete the form below and provide the nominee’s CV along with materials speaking to his or her proven success in mentoring. The latter may include: letters of support from students and colleagues; data showing placement of students or other mentees earning tenure, being placed in jobs, winning fellowships, or gaining admission to graduate programs; or other evidence of success in mentoring and advising. Please note that each nominee may have only 3 letters of support, or nominators may write one letter with an unlimited number of signatures. All documents should be compiled into a single PDF, in 12-point Times font, with a maximum of 10 pages.
The nominee must be an AAAS member in good standing at the time of the nomination.
Decisions regarding this award will be determined by a subcommittee of the AAAS Board with approval by the full AAAS Board.
Important Dates: Applications must be received in full by January 15, 2016. Honoree will be notified by February 15, 2016. Award will be presented at the AAAS Annual Conference awards ceremony in Miami, FL, on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
