Associate or Full Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies, Wellesley College

Deadline: December 1

The Women’s and Gender Studies Department at Wellesley College invites applications for a position at the rank of associate or full professor and chair of the department beginning in fall of 2023. We seek a scholar who has a strong research record, sustained commitment to teaching, and significant administrative experience. As department chair, the person who fills this position will build on the current strengths of the department and set a bold and well-considered agenda for the future. In addition, the chair of the department will have a record of mentorship that advances the professional development of junior faculty. The chair will welcome and engender collaboration with colleagues within and across departmental lines, joining a faculty that is committed to liberal arts education and inclusive pedagogy and excellence.

We welcome applicants in all fields and disciplines. Interdisciplinary training and demonstrated investment in scholarly programs and communities such as Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Queer and Trans Studies; Area Studies; and Ethnic Studies are traits that are valued by the search committee. The teaching load at Wellesley College is two courses per semester. A teaching load reduction is considered for department chairs and other faculty with substantial service commitments.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, cv, research statement, writing sample (book chapter or journal article), teaching statement, and contact information for three colleagues who will provide professional recommendation. Application materials are due December 1, 2022.
