2025 Texas Association for Asian American Diaspora Studies

Due December 31

The Texas Association for Asian American Diaspora Studies (TAAADS) is excited to announce that we are hosting a two-day interdisciplinary symposium on Asian American Diaspora Studies (AADS) from February 28-March 1, 2025 at Texas A&M University! This symposium is a collaboration between graduate students at Rice University and Texas A&M University.

This year’s theme, “Rethinking Asian American Diaspora Studies: Relationality, Interconnected Struggles, Shared Histories,” opens questions about cross-racial intimacies, transnational geographies and critiques of domination. Questions surrounding our interconnectedness across struggles are more urgent than ever, prompting us to rethink AADS through a relational approach. What kinds of histories, kinships and socialities gain visibility through this orientation? We invite faculty, graduate students, undergraduates and community members to submit proposals for individual papers and panels. There are also opportunities to chair panels and participate in an open roundtable discussion on the symposium’s theme.
