Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Asian American History, Williams College | Due September 30

The Department of History at Williams College seeks to make a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor in Asian American history, to begin during the 2023-24 academic year. In exceptional cases, a more advanced appointment may be considered. The Department welcomes all methodological approaches and thematic specializations.

The candidate should be a dedicated scholar with a Ph.D. in hand or expected by September 2023. The teaching load in the department is 2-2 plus a January-term course every other year, and faculty have considerable autonomy in developing the curriculum in their fields. The History Department has demonstrated success in developing a diverse faculty, and we are especially interested in candidates from historically underrepresented groups whose scholarship and teaching contribute to the breadth and excellence of our academic communities. Information about the department and current curriculum can be found at: https://history.williams.edu. The person hired into this position will also have the opportunity to join existing faculty who teach Asian American topics in other units, at a time when the College is working towards building an Asian American Studies program.
