ISSN: 1096-8598 Print ISSN: 1097-2129 Publisher: The Johns Hopkins University Press
The official publication of the Association for Asian American Studies, the Journal of Asian American Studies (JAAS) explores all aspects of Asian American experiences. The Journal publishes original works of scholarly interest to the field, including new theoretical developments, research results, methodological innovations, public policy concerns, pedagogical issues, and book reviews. As a much-needed outlet for the increasing volume of scholarship in the field, JAAS provides an avenue for a quick and lively exchange of ideas.
JAAS solicits manuscripts that advance the journal’s mission to showcase critical work furthering knowledge of Asian/Pacific/America in its diversity. The journal welcomes submissions from all fields, including cultural studies, history, literary criticism, social science, and, interdisciplinary studies of gender, social policy, pedagogical/praxis and comparative race issues. Articles should not exceed 30 (thirty) word-processed, double-spaced pages, or 11,300 words, excluding endnotes and other printed matter. Queries can be directed to Dr. Diane C. Fujino (email@example.com) and Dr. Lisa Sun-Hee Park (firstname.lastname@example.org).
JAAS generally only reviews scholarly books, documentary films, and other media materials related to Asian American studies. Considering that the field of Asian American studies is being advanced in multiple formats, including those that appear in exhibitions, events, and digital spaces, JAAS is committed to providing scholarly reviews of works in such diverse formats and sites to the extent possible, given editorial and space constraints. Correspondence regarding book reviews should be sent to Christopher B. Patterson, email@example.com.
