CFP: Aging Asian Americans: Advancing Research and Policy on Health Equity Journal of Social Issues Due February 1 Guest Editors: Van C. Tran (Professor of Sociology, CUNY Graduate Center) and Na Yin (Associate Professor of Economics, CUNY Graduate Center & Baruch College) Journal of Social Issues is pleased to announce a special issue dedicated to examining the complex and multidimensional experiences of aging Asian Americans. We invite scholarly submissions from multiple disciplines, including psychology, sociology, economics, anthropology, education, public health, neuroscience, and more. Proposed articles can be based on qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods studies, as well as conceptual or theoretical contributions. We welcome articles that are attentive to growing intra-Asian diversity or focus on vulnerable Asian ethnic groups. We also welcome comparative studies examining the experiences of older Asian Americans with other ethnoracial groups or older Asians across different global contexts. We seek high-quality, rigorous manuscripts that present transformative perspectives, push the boundaries of current thinking, and challenge the status quo in the field and society. We invite scholars to submit proposals addressing the following (non-exhaustive) list of topics. We encourage submissions from early career scholars from both teaching and research institutions. 1. Key Trends in Health Disparities2. Healthcare Access and Utilization3. Identity and Social Psychological Process4. Cultural Diversity and Aging Dynamics5. Family and Community Support6. Advocacy and Health Equity Interested authors should submit a CV and an abstract (up to two pages, single-spaced) along with two pages of supporting materials (e.g., tables, figures, etc.) by 5 p.m. EST on February 1, 2025. We anticipate making selection decisions by May 15, 2025. Ten to twelve papers will be selected for the final issue. Full manuscripts are due on October 15, 2025.
