This section supports an expanded vision of South Asian American Studies (SAAS) by coalescing a network of interdisciplinary scholars, students, and community partners in the field. Section members question power and privilege, are concerned with intersectional understandings of the field (centering gender, sexuality, region, religion, caste, and class), deepen engagements across the diaspora, and build connections between and across fields such as with Black Studies and Latina/o/x Studies.
