Critical SWANA Diaspora Studies

Chair: Najwa Mayer, Thomas Simsarian Dolan, & Umayyah Cable

The Critical SWANA Diaspora Studies section is a collective of scholars who research issues of multiple colonialisms, imperialisms, racisms, migrations, capital, and cultures by communing interdisciplinary and transregional perspectives within South West Asian North African (SWANA) diasporas. Following activist genealogies of SWANA as a political site of solidarity, we engage questions of power to theorize relationalities and trouble complicities within South/West/Central Asian as well as Afro-Asian orientations in Asian American Studies.
