Assistant Teaching Professor in Asian American Studies

The Asian American Studies Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara, seeks to hire a scholar at the pre-tenured rank for an Assistant Teaching Professor position with an effective date of July 1, 2025, or later.
The Assistant Teaching Professor is a full-time, tenure-track position, with primary responsibilities in teaching/mentoring and teaching-related activities, such as working with other faculty in the department to lead teaching-focused initiatives or activities. The position will entail requirements for service and professional and/or scholarly achievement and activity (which may include research/creative activity related to instruction and pedagogy or to the underlying discipline).
This faculty position will play a leadership role in teaching and pedagogy in the departments and their disciplines, supporting the professional and programmatic activities of the Asian American Studies Department. The teaching load is a 7-course equivalent across 3 quarters, in interdisciplinary Asian American studies theory and research methods with a range of possible specializations. This teaching load will include lower-division lectures (which may count as 2 courses depending upon enrollment).
